Note from OJI President Russ Scherer:

I am saddened to hear we have lost yet another Judo leader from Ohio.  A former member of Ohio Judo, Inc., Gene often participated in OJI activities and was a driving force in the development of Judo in the Toledo area through the Judan Judo of Toledo with Gary Monto.  From their participation in a small referee clinic at my home, through many state meetings and tournaments, to the hosting of several USJA national events, Gene and Gary have been there to support Judo development.  Gene will be missed and our thoughts and prayers will be with his family, his club and his many friends.
